A Proud Son

Dwight David Eisenhower served as the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe during World War II. He led the successful invasion of Normandy and played a key role in ending the war, earning widespread recognition as a national hero.

Around that time, a reporter said to his mother, “You must be so proud of your son.”

She replied, “Which one are you talking about?”

Only after the reporter mentioned his name did she realize which of her children he was referring to. Dwight was the third of her seven children. Despite their poverty, his parents raised all their children with equal love and care. Although Dwight became a public fi gure, his mother never considered him more special than any of her other children. To her, he was simply one of her equally beloved children.
